In the fall, Flying V presents… well… a play! Doctor Moloch by Carla Milarch is a sci-fi ethical dilemma set in the not too distant future. It’s 2029, and a tech startup finalizes development on the first humanoid medical AI, Doctor Moloch. There’s just one problem: the good doctor has no empathy. The company hires Serena, an actress in the twilight of her career, to teach Moloch how to “be human”. If she fails, there’s a multi-million dollar contract on the line. But if she succeeds, the cost could be so much more…

Doctor Moloch is directed by Madeleine Regina (Feminist Fairytales, Vox Elysium), with Artistic Lead navi as showrunner. “As the DMV’s nerd and pop culture theater company, how could we not play with the complexities of the AI zeitgeist,” asks navi. “Doctor Moloch gives us an opportunity to explore the entwined paths of humanity and technology on stage in a classically cerebral and uniquely Flying V fashion!”
