Emma Kaywin (they / them / theirs) is a nonbinary queer educator, writer, and activist whose work focuses on trauma and sexuality education.
They’re also the trauma informed experience manager for DOCS. They received a Master’s of Arts in health education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2019 and hold a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Teachers College Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution. They are currently working towards a doctorate in health education (EdD) at Teachers College, where they are researching what supports sexuality and gender minority individuals in feeling sexually safer in nightlife spaces.
Emma additionally works in the community, developing and delivering trauma-informed policies for various minority communities. They are the Safety Co-Director at House of Yes (NYC) and co-leads the Safer Spaces team at Meso Creso (DC). They consult for a number of nightlife communities and radical arts organizations across the East Coast, where they develop trauma-informed policies and procedures and train staff. They further have developed a robust trauma-based sexuality and accountability curriculum, which they deliver to party collectives and young scientist groups internationally.
