Heroes

What makes a hero?

A hero is someone who gives of themselves to help someone else.

What is your favorite hero and why do they speak to you?

I have several favorite heroes, but they all have something in common; Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alanna of Trebond, and Captain Kathryn Janeway all have a dogged determination in the face of insurmountable odds. They sacrifice and push and do what needs to be done. Yet, they are all flawed human beings and sometimes make the wrong choices and must deal with the consequences. They are not paragons of virtue, but real people who constantly strive to be better.

If you were a superhero, what would your super power be? Could you be tempted to use it for evil?

What I would like my superpowers to be: flight and super strength (with accompanying awesome dexterity and fighting abilities). I would probably be tempted to use it for selfish purposes, like making the morning commute to work easier, but not for evil.

What my superpower probably would be based on who I am: heightened perception and empathy. The ability to sense what is going on and what people are feeling to be able to not only help people, but predict people’s moves and manipulate situations to my advantage. My goodness yes, I would be tempted to use that for evil.

What would your costume look like?

My costume would have a hooded leather duster, black pants and high lace up black boots, and a blue shirt for the first one, and probably just my normal clothes for the second one.

Monsters

What makes a monster?

Lack of moral compass.

What fictional monster scares you the most and why?

Any monster that cannot be reasoned with, any monster that you cannot see, any monster that looks human but has something wrong with it.

What everyday experience brings out the monster in you?

Things that require patience, like traffic jams. Moments when my expectations of how a situation will play out are not met. Moments when I see others doing what I cannot do.
