Aniello Belt

Oh, you didn’t know?

Well let me tell you something, Brother. Your favorite theatre, Flying V, has spent the last four years laying the theatrical Smackdown all over DC. As the innovators of thespian offense, we’ve rocked you harder than a steel chair with our brand of pop culture infused theatre and original, offbeat charm that has been guaranteed to make you Have a Nice Day. Through all the blood, sweat, and cheers we’ve built up a body of work we’re damn proud of – and the best is still to come. Now, on Monday, April 6th, in the Main Event of the annual Helen Hayes Awards – or as we call it ‘TheatreMania’, Dude – Flying V will climb that ladder and snatch the title that is the 2015 John Aniello Outstanding Emerging Theater Company Belt. You might say, for one night, we’re The Best In The World. Oooooooooh Yeeeeeeaaaaaah!

As you can probably tell, we’re big fans of professional wrestling here at Flying V. And if we’ve learned anything from that crazy world of tights and fights, it’s that a title only means something if you rise it high and all the time. We are so proud and honored to be receiving this award, and we do mean we. This incredible honor is thanks to YOU, our fans, our Ducks, our Flying V-aholics, our Awesomaniacs.  Thank you for coming to see the shows, for donating and supporting, for hanging out with us in person and on social media, and for generally BEING AWESOME. You smell what the V is cooking, and we are happy to be the People’s Champs.

So own this with us. Tell your friends and family, your coworkers, strangers on the street, that you were on the ground floor for the Flying V revolution. Be loud, be proud, and raise that verbal belt up high. Bring them to the next show, bring a comic book to share at our free little library in the lobby, wear your T-shirt proud. You’re family. And at the awards feel free to chant – lets make “Quack! Quack! Quack!” our “Yes! Yes! Yes!” Or we can just stick with the classics – “This is Awesome *clap*clap*clapclapclap*” Lets make a moment together. You deserve it.

And of course, please cheer on our Flying V Company Members and award nominees, DOUG WILDER and MAGGIE ERWIN, Advisory Board Members LEE LIEBESKIND and MICHAEL BOBBITT, Lobster Alice Cast Member DANIEL COREY, Pirate Laureate and the King of the Sea Cast Members MATT McGEE and BRADLEY FOSTER SMITH, and You, or Whatever I Can Get Costume Designer JEN BEVAN

Then on Tuesday we get back to work, because what really matters most is constantly striving to create the best theater we can make.

And that’s the Bottom Line, cause Flying V said so.

Help us make Year 5 our best year yet!
